On 23 May 2013 the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria (ESC) was visited by a delegation of the Economic and Social Council of China, led by Mr. Zhao Qizheng - Deputy Chairman of the Chinese ESC and Mr. Li Xueming - Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese ESC. The delegation was accompanied by His Excellency Guo Yezhou, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria. The meeting is a continuation of the active participation and interaction of both councils in the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS).

On behalf of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria the meeting was attended by the three Vice-Presidents of the ESC: Mr. Vasil Velev - Chairman of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, Dr. Konstantin Trenchev - President of Podkrepa Confederation of Labour and Prof. Neno Pavlov. Mr. Velev informed the participants with the process of establishing the Bulgarian ESC and the structure and legal rules in which it operates, emphasising the difference between the social and the civil dialogue in Bulgaria. Prof. Neno Pavlov presented the mechanism of elaboration of the acts of the Council and outlined the theme of their profile, highlighting the Europe-wide focus. Dr. Konstantin Trenchev noted that for 10 years the ESC has been operating in a constructive dialogue with four consecutive governments and parliaments evidence of which are the many Council’s proposals reflected in major strategy documents of the country.

Икономическият и социален съвет (ИСС) участва в Европейски форум за социално предприемачество, който се проведе от 21 до 24 март в Международен панаир Пловдив. Събитието бе организирано от Европейската комисия (ЕК), Министерство на труда и социалната политика (МТСП), Европейската конфедерация на производствените кооперации и социалните предприятия (СЕКОР), Агенцията за хората с увреждания (АХУ) и Националният съюз на ТПК. Форумът включваше Европейска конференция „Социалното предприемачество – основа за устойчив растеж” и Втори европейски панаир на социални предприятия и кооперации за хора с увреждания. Целта на това ежегодно събитие е да съдейства за развитие на социалното предприемачество, социалната икономика и насърчаване заетостта на хората с увреждания.

Заместник-министърът на труда и социалната политика Иванка Шалапатова и изпълнителният директор на АХУ Минчо Коралски откриха форума, а официални гости и участници в конференцията бяха Апостолос Йоакимидис – Директор на Главна дирекция „Предприятия и индустрия” в ЕК и Бруно Ролантс - генерален директор на СЕКОР.

A seminar on the topic “Woman and social dialogue” took place in Luxembourg on 26-27 March 2012 as a part of the project TRESMED 4. The event was held at the headquarters of the European Court of Auditors and was attended by representatives of the Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions from Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg and Bulgaria, as well as from the European Economic and Social Committee and European Commission. The forum was honoured by the attendance of the Minister for Equal Opportunities of Luxembourg-Mrs. Françoise Hetto-Gaasch.

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
