ESC has adopted opinion "Measures to address energy poverty in Bulgaria". The Opinion is on own initiative.Rapporteurs on the topic areMr. Lyuben Tomov, Dr. Sc., Group II - trade unions and Mr. Bogomil Nikolov, Dr. Sc., group III - other civic organizations.
Council members made small additions to the text. All agreed that the problem of "energy poverty" in the country is socially significant, but undervalued at the moment.The forthcoming liberalization of the energy market in 2016 will need to take urgent measures for small and medium businesses and population.Therefore, all Council membersagreed over the opinion that offers a number of administrative, regulatory and other measures for protection against the energy poverty.Among the proposals in the first place it is to define the term "energy poverty" and to create a National strategy for protection from the energy poverty.The opinion offers a wealth of information on the experience of other countries in addressing the problem of energy poverty.
