THE ESC ADOPTED ITS ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT FOR 2015

The Economic and Social Council’s Plenary Session at its meeting on 10 March 2016 discussed and adopted the ESC Annual Activity Report. The document received support by all participants in the session. It notes that according to the ESC Act, the Council elaborated and adopted three opinions, an analysis and a six resolutions on current economic and social issues.

The Plenary Session elected Bozhidar Danev, ESC member of the employer’s group, as the new Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council. He was proposed by the employer’s group on the basis of the agreed rotation principle among the nationally represented employers' organizations. Vice-President up to the present was Kiril Domuschiev.

Evgeni Ivanov, member of the ESC employer’s group, was elected as a member of the Standing Commission on Economic Policy.

MISSION

“THE CIVIL PARLIAMENT” OF BULGARIA

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
