The Economic and Social Council (ESC) began its Plenary Session today with a minute of silence for the victims of the attack in Nice. On the proposal of the ESC President Prof. Lalko Dulevski the Session members unanimously adopted a declaration which expressed their rejection of terrorism and empathy with the relatives of the victims in Nice. The full text of the Declaration, which the ESC sent to the French people and the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council by the French ambassador in Sofia is as follows:

The Economic and Social Council expresses its deep empathy with the French people and relatives of the victims of the indescribably brutal attack on civilians in Nice. We are convinced that the bloody attack in the French city is incompatible with morality, law, religion or any political doctrine. It is another act of terrorism and its target is all of us who share the values ​​of Europe, the modern society values of solidarity, peace and mutual respect.
The news from France is shocking and cannot leave humanity indifferent and calm. It clearly shows us that terror is everywhere and does not spare anyone.
Therefore, as an institution of the organised civil society in Bulgaria the ESC once again reiterates its call for solidarity, a strong civil control, vigilance and unification of all free and peaceful people to defend the most valuable - human life.
We believe that the Bulgarian citizens are saddened today. We share the anxieties of all, but along with that we are sure that Bulgaria, the EU and the rest of the world will never accept and put up with terrorism.

The meeting of the ESC Plenary Session is going to continue with discussion and adoption of an ESC resolution on the Council Recommendation on the integration of the long-term unemployed into the labour market and consultation meeting on the same topic.
