Another meeting-conversation held by ESC with secondary school students from the National Financial Economics Vocational School in Sofia. More than 60 students attended and exchanged views with the ESC President Prof. Dr. Lalko Dulevski, Yanka Takeva, ESC member, is Chairperson of the Bulgarian Union of Teachers and the Principal of the secondary school - Maya Gesheva.

The Economic and Social Council (ESC) passed late last night at its plenary session an opinion on the following subject: "Potential social, economic, environmental and consumer effects of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union ".

Georges Dassis - President of the Brussels European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) visited last night the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council (ESC) in Sofia. He met with the members of the Plenary Session of the ESC and talked to them about the priorities of Europe and the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the European Council.

The Economic and Social Council and the Municipality of Samokov organized a discussion-meeting with students completing their secondary education about the opportunities for realization of young people in the region. The aim of the discussion was to create the opportunity for a frank conversation between the local authorities and the young people about the future development of the municipality and their professional and work placement in the area.

NATIONAL AWAKENING DAY

Today we celebrate our scholars, teachers, enlighteners and revolutionaries who are so many that they are impossible to enumerate by name. They created, preserved and bequeathed the Bulgarian national consciousness to us and for us to preserve. Their deeds form the fundaments on which Bulgaria stands. And as on National Awakening Day we worship the personalities who have shaped the Bulgarian spirituality in the past, it is even more important to realise how much such people are needed today.

“THE CIVIL PARLIAMENT” OF BULGARIA

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
