On 30 November from 9 am in the Royal Hall of Sofia Hotel Balkan No 5 St. Nedelya Square), a public discussion will be held on the topic: "What Europe Do We Want?" Organized by the Economic and Social Council (ESC) of Bulgaria and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

At its most recent Plenary Session the Economic and Social Council adopted two resolutions on the future of the EU. The main topics of the resolutions are the economic and social dimensions for a stronger and more solidary Europe. Ever since 2015, ESC has actively participated through its own acts and organized discussions in European debates on the future of the EU. With the latest adopted resolutions, ESC expressed the main positions of the Bulgarian organized civil society on the most recent issues to be resolved next May during the summit of European leaders in Romania. In both resolutions, ESC urges the EU to maintain its unity and develop as a strong and competitive alliance and as a fair and solidary community.

The Economic and Social Council (ESC) decided to propose to the Council of Ministers to endorse Radosvet Radev - a member of the Economic and Social Council of the Employers' Group, to become a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Radosvet Radev - Executive Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, joined the ESC in place of Bozhidar Danev, who died earlier this year. According to the Economic and Social Council Act of the Republic of Bulgaria, proposals for the Bulgarian members of the European Economic Social Committee are made by the ESC to the Council of Ministers and the Council of Ministers approves the proposed nomination.

Two schools in Sofia hosted the already traditional meetings-discussions of ESC related to the prospects for professional realization in training through work.

For another year the ESC met with students in their 9th and 11th year of schooling from the National High School in Finance and Business (NHSFB), who are trained through the dual system on vocational track "Economist" and specialism "Commerce". More than 50 students conversed with the ESC President Prof. Dr. Lalko Dulevski, with Yanka Takeva, member of the ESC and chairperson of the Bulgarian Union of Teachers, and with the director of the High School Maya Gesheva, the prospects for professional realization in training through work.

MISSION

“THE CIVIL PARLIAMENT” OF BULGARIA

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
