In an opinion adopted at its plenary session of 5 March 2019, ESC endorsed the European Commission's initiative for a new directive to help parents and carers balance professional and private life. The EC initiative for a new European directive on work-life balance of parents and carers aims to formulate new measures and policies to solve problems arising from unequal women's participation in the labour market, as well as its consequences, such as lower pensions for women, higher risk of poverty, lack of work-life balance.

Europe will experience its Renaissance by involving the young people. Because one thing is clear: Europe is our common future. And our future will be constructed by the young Europeans, said ESC President Prof. Lalko Dulevski at the European High-Level Forum" Civil Society for rEUnaissance" in Brussels. The President of the Bulgarian ESC was an official participant in the forum at the invitation of the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) Luca Jahier who was also the organizer of the event in Brussels.

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
