The Secretary General of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova, has been appointed as the new Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council of the Republic of Bulgaria (ESC). She succeeds Evgeny Ivanov, CEO of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (CEIB), who previously represented the employers’ group in the Council’s leadership.

The representation change in the Presidential Council of the ESC is part of the regular rotational process. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angelova’s candidacy was unanimously approved by the ESC members during the first plenary session of the year. Evgeny Ivanov was commended for his significant contributions to the Council’s leadership and will continue to serve as Chair of the ESC’s Committee on Macroeconomics, Budget and Finance.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova brings extensive expertise to her new role. She has been the Secretary General of BICA and a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) since 2007, where she also served as Vice-President from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, she has been Vice-Chair of SGI Europe since 2011, has a number of specialisations in prestigious European universities and has contributed to the Economic Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as a Research Fellow of the I degree.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angelova has been rapporteur on many topics such as policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises, European structural and investment funds, combating the grey economy and undeclared work, corporate social responsibility, capital markets and labour perspectives. She has been an active member of the ESC since 2006 and previously chaired its Committee on Macroeconomics, Budget and Finance.
