Zornitsa Roussinova: The decline in youth employment due to the pandemic is almost 9%
„The trend is alarming and unfortunately in the recent months our attention was mainly focused on dealing with the Covid-19 crisis, the health problem, the economic problem, electricity prices, the political crisis. Despite the good economic indicators, which Bulgaria had before the crisis, we see that young people are the most affected”, said the President of the Economic and Social Council Zornitsa Roussinova in the studio of “Bulgaria in the Morning”.
In her opinion, the young people are the most vulnerable in the labour market and find it most difficult to find a job at a time when the market is stagnant.
“Many people lost their jobs, a lot of businesses were closed and still a large number of young people do not have enough additional skills which would allow them to find easily a job afterwards”, explained Roussinova.
“A transformation of the way the whole system works on the labour market should begin, because the company is not the one which is looking for the worker, but rather the job itself. The skills that a person possess are a prerequisite for him to be successful in what he does”, concluded Roussinova.
