European partnerships

ESC works in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the economic and social councils of the EU member states, the Euro-Mediterranean countries, and is a member of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Related Institutions, which has over 70 member councils from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The EESC clearly states its support and recognition of ESC as a European partner and describes it as “the first Council from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe built on the principles of the European Economic and Social Committee”. Over the past four mandates, the Council has proved itself among many foreign peer institutions as a successful model of an institution whose focus is civil dialogue and is one of the few examples that can be followed by countries choosing this difficult path of establishing and developing an independent and functioning Economic and Social Council.
