Atanas Katsarchev is Chief Economist of the Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa” (CT “Podkrepa”).

He graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. He specialized in taxation of non-governmental organizations and European fiscal system and tax administration.

He has been Deputy Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Information Services JSC, member of the SB of BDB JSC, member of the SB of the National Social Insurance Institute, member of the Export Insurance Council. In the period 2017 – 2019 he was Chief of Staff of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Irrigation Systems JSC. In the period 2014 – 2017, he was Chairman of the SC of BBR SA, as well as Finance Director at the State Fund for Agriculture.

He has extensive administrative experience and tax expertise.

He has been a member of the Economic and Social Council since 2023.
