Teodora Bakardzhieva is a professional with over 20 years of experience in the non-governmental sector, focusing on civil society development, fundraising, and cooperation between the public sector, donors, and civil society organizations.
She graduated from the Technical University of Sofia, and her entire professional career has been dedicated to the non-profit sector. Throughout the years, she has been part of the teams of a number of established Bulgarian non-governmental organizations with diverse profiles, including SEGA Foundation – Start for Effective Civic Alternatives, Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, FORA – Community Development Foundation, and the Bulgarian Food Bank.
Since 2016, Teodora Bakardzhieva has been working with the Bulgarian Donors Forum, contributing to the development of the philanthropic and donor environment in Bulgaria. She has extensive experience in initiatives aimed at building the capacity of civil society organizations, as well as experience as a community facilitator, fundraising trainer, and project evaluator.
Her main professional interests focus on the development and implementation of effective mechanisms for cooperation between the public sector, civil society organizations, and donors, as well as on the measurement of the impact of socially responsible investments.
As of March 2022, Teodora Bakardzhieva has taken on the role of Executive Director of the Bulgarian Donors Forum, overseeing the organization’s operational management and working towards the promotion of sustainable models for philanthropy and civil society development in Bulgaria.
