On September 15, 2026, the EESC’s “European Citizens’ Initiative” group, with the support of the Economic and Social Council of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will hold a debate in Sofia on the current state of the European Citizens’ Initiative in Bulgaria.
The event will bring together stakeholders interested in the ECI and communication experts, including representatives of EU institutions, civil society, youth, academia, and local authorities, to discuss how awareness, visibility, and participation in the European Citizens’ Initiative can be further strengthened at the national level.
Participants will share experiences, best practices, and ideas on how to make this unique EU tool for participatory democracy more accessible to Bulgarian citizens and more impactful.
