On May 28 and 29, the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria will host a tripartite meeting with the Economic and Social Council of Spain and the Economic and Social Council of Portugal. The forum will bring together representatives of the three consultative bodies, the legislative and executive branches, the European Commission in Bulgaria, as well as representatives of employer organizations, labor unions, the academic community, and the civil society sector.
The meeting will focus primarily on current challenges facing the labor market, policies for young people, economic growth, competitiveness, and entrepreneurship. During the discussions, participants will exchange experiences and best practices on topics common to European Union member states, as well as on issues related to social dialogue and the participation of organized civil society in public policy-making.
Special emphasis will be placed on the contribution of organized civil society and the role of economic and social councils as a bridge between institutions and society in order to achieve more effective and balanced policies.
The meeting is expected to contribute to deepening cooperation among the three councils and to the development of joint messages and recommendations on key issues on the European agenda. The forum is being organized within the framework of the cooperation agreements signed between the three institutions and will bring together representatives of the three national economic and social councils in Bulgaria for the first time in this format.
